Cardiologist, ENT, ST, & PT

Did you catch all of that? That is what Paxton has been up to this week. It has all been really good news too!

Paxton had his yearly cardiologist appointment. He has an ASD http://www.americanheart.org/presenter.jhtml?identifier=11065 and has to been checked yearly to see if it has closed or gotten worse. In the past it has been the same every year, but this year his doctor said that his heart sounds completely normal and the EKG looks normal too. So guess what? No more hole! We will continue to see the cardiologist every couple of years just to follow up. I was really wondering how this appointment would go because in the past the doctor has told us, if it hadn't closed on its own by the time he was 3 years old they would do surgery to close it. It would not have been major surgery, but I am glad that we don't have to do it.

We went to the ENT and checked his tubes in his ears again. One has fallen out but the other is still working, so no new tubes yet.

Then we have had 2 therapies this week also. He is starting to make a few more sounds and he actually pointed to the door and said "da" and then to the light and said "t" which is more than we have ever gotten him to do. Speech is something that I really need to work harder with him.

And finally, I was so excited to have his physical therapist come because he started walking since she was here last month. We have been working on walking for a long, long time. So now we finally have more goals to work on in the gross motor area. And it is really fun to watch him walk all over the place, still a little wobbly but walking no doubt!

Look at my big boy!

Here's another one. Sorry it is turned sideways, I always seem to forget about that when I do a video.

He has been taking a couple steps, here and there, for a very long time. I would say almost a year. We have been working with him really hard to try and get him to walk and he finally has decided that he likes to walk.

June Already!

May has come and gone. It always seems like we are so busy but when I look back we really haven't been doing much.

Mark spent the first of the month at a conference in Ohio. I always hate it when he has to be gone, but the boys were really good this time so it wasn't so bad.

We have had a couple of really warm days, along with a lot of rainy not so nice days, but we did get out the swimming pools and the boys had tons of fun. Pax was so excited to get in the water he didn't want to wait to get his swimsuit on.

We have also spent a lot of time working on our yard. I think next time we will know better what we want to do and hopefully not have to redo anything, like we have this year. We have learned a lot by putting in our own yard. We spent one weekend redoing our "parking lot" on the side of our house. Paxton absolutely loves the dirt. You cannot keep him out of it.

Conner has finished preschool for the year and will go back next year also. Miss Karen had a really cute preschool graduation program. They sang songs about their numbers and the alphabet, but Conner really didn't sing much, he seems to get distracted pretty easily.

Here they are acting out their carrot story they wrote as a class. It was really cute.
