Happy 4th of July

We had such a fun and exciting 4th of July holiday. So let's start from the begining:

We had dinner and lit fireworks with my family on Tuesday before the 4th. The kids had tons of fun watching the fireworks. Paxton absolutely loved it. He sat on Aunt Gena's lap and clapped and ahhed the whole time. Con, Austin, and Elise watched too, but they liked to hide under the blanket when the firworks were loud.

Mark really wanted to get some toy that we could play around on in the mountains. So he came home one day and had to show me this...

Well, I guess I had to give in to Mark's pleading and we bought it. It is a dune bugging and it is a lot of fun. We can strap Con into the seat and we even put Paxton in his carseat and strapped it into the seat too. We decided that this is a little bit safer than the four-wheeler for our little boys. So on the 4th, we played around on it in the morning and had lots of fun. That night we had a picnic with our neighbors and lit fireworks.

Thursday, we headed down to Mayfield and up to the cabin. Mark and Paxton rode up to the cabin on the dune bugging and I rode up with Con on the 4 wheeler. We had lots of fun at the cabin with our family. Mark and I hiked to Mousinia on Saturday. We all went for some small hikes, rode to the fish pond and played in the hut and on a hammock that Elayne brought up. All of the kids played really well together and it was a lot of fun.

Let me take the last one back...

Well, I realized that it has been awhile since I have posted. So I have to take back what I said about a good eye doctor appointment.

Well, after I took Pax to the eye doctor, I got home and there were a ton of emails from my Up With Downs group about eye doctors. Well everyone said NOT to go to the doctor that I had just went to. What a coincidence that this all happened on the same day. Well, all of the emails from these moms made me really worried that Paxton didn't get the care that he should of, to say it nicely. So I took him to another eye doctor and sure enough, he had an infection. This new doctor gave me eye drops and said that he would be ok, there wasn't any signs of damage from the infection. What a relief. His eyes cleared right up after we started the eye drops.

Another good doctor's appointment

If you have seen Paxton lately you probably know that his eye has been red for about a month now. I have just thought that it was allergies because it was always worse when we would go outside and especially the morning after we spent a day outside. It never bothered him and he never itched his eyes though.

Well, I took him to the doctor because it was looking worse than before and he didn't think that it was allergies. So he sent us to an opthomologist to have it checked out. Well that totally freaked me out. Here I had been giving my little boy benadryl for a month thinking that it was allergies, and now it might not be.

We just got back from the eye doctor and he did confirm that it was allergies. Whew! I was so worried that I had done major damage to his little eyes from an infection.

Paxton's Cardiologist checkup

Today we had Paxton's yearly checkup with the cardiologist. I wasn't too worried about it because he has been so healthy and active and never really has had any health problems. The appointment went great!. The cardiologist said that he does still have the ASD, (Atrial Septal Defect http://www.americanheart.org/presenter.jhtml?identifier=11065), but it does seem to be smaller and everything else is just fine. So that is great news. We just have to follow up in another year again.

Paxton had so much fun at the appointment. While he had his blood pressure check he got to play with bubbles, which we have never done before. And he absolutely loved to cord to the blood pressure machine in the room. I don't think that I have ever heard him laugh so hard before.

Paxton's newest achievement

We started having the physical therapist come and work with Paxton this week. I was really excited to have her come and show us things to work on with him. Well, she came in and pull out a toy and he cruised the whole length of the couch to get to it. He has never done this for me, ever! It was so exciting. I can occasionally get him to do it again, but he really has to have some good motivation to do it.

He is so active and just loves being able to play. I joke with friends and family that if we go outside I need to cage him in so that he won't get into everything. He absolutely loves the dirt and playing in the bark and gravel. He is so very busy and loves every minute of it!

5K Fun

Saturday was the 5k run that my mom and I have done the past few years. My dad actually participated in it too this year which was really fun. I don't know why, but I was really nervous about it because I am not in as good of shape as I have been in the past. It was really fun. My dad beat both my mom and I by a minute and a half. And my mom and I beat our last year's time by almost 4 minutes. So we actually did pretty well. Paxton also came with me and he loved to watch all of the people walking around us. Every so often he would just start laughing and it made everyone around us laugh too.

I say this every year, but I hope next year to be in good enough shape to run the whole time and maybe place in the top 5.

This is what I woke up to...

I woke up this morning to yells coming from Paxton's room. I went in and found him like this. I have no idea how he did it but he was really happy to see me. Silly boy!
